The Mobile NiMH Battery Charger is microprocessor controlled to switch from rapid charge to trickle charge once the voltage returns to 90% of nominal capacity (1.08V), but of significant note is inbuilt temperature, overvoltage and overcharge protection - plus this charger comes with a 12V DC input so that you can plug it into the car cigarette lighter and charger batteries whilst travelling or on the move.
This charger is capable of charging AA and AAA batteries via two charging channels. You can charg either two or four AA, two or four AAA, or two AA and two AAA batteries. A 2300mAh AA battery is charged in approximately 150 minutes.
The reverse chemical reaction that occurs during battery recharge is an exothermic process, thereby increasing the temperature of battery terminals. Temperature monitoring by this charger ensures this heat is not excessive, and that batteries remain rechargeable for up to 1,000 cycles.
Rapid charging can result in very high temperatures, the Smart Rapid Charger monitors the temperature once the batteries are inserted into the unit (ensure the batteries are inserted firmly for good contact with the temperature sensing circuitry).
Because rapid charging in combination with exerthermic reactions produces significant excess heat, the charger should be placed in an appropriate safe and open area - not in a confined space or sealed box.
