This Battery Charger is now End of Life
Replacement Model Arriving Soon
You could own half a dozen battery chargers over the next few years, or you can own one really good one. We have chozen this microprocessor design to head up our AA and AAA range of chargers, each having discharge and battery conditioning functions with delta V charge rate tailoring.
This computer controlled charger is perfect for charging any combination of batteries from one through to ten AA or AAA NiCd / NiMH batteries without the restriction of having to charge in pairs, groups of four, or charge batches.
We selected this charger because of its ability to not only accept any combination of AA and AAA batteries, but also to fully discharge batteries prior to charging. This discharge characteristic is very important for optimal battery life and performance, and minimises memory effects that can be prevalent in NiCd (and to a much lesser extent NiMH).
This NiMH battery charger is highly recommended for AA and AAA batteries. The charge current is not so high as to cause temperature or overcharge damage, and the derivative of voltage is used to sense charge progress. Furthermore NiCd and NiMH may be mixed in the unit, and additional batteries can be placed into the unit at any time irrespective of whether other batteries are starting or nearing completion of their individual charge cycle.
Batteries are automatically trickle charged ready for use once the normal charging process has complete.
Processor Control Features
Constant pulse charge using 250mA on standard charge (charge without discharge).
Red button may be pressed within 30 seconds of switching on to discharge fully before charging.
Defective battery cells are detected during charge cycle.
NiCd and NiMH AA or AAA batteries can be mixed in the unit.
General Features
12V DC power, 800mA power consumption (adapter supplied).
Accepts AA or AAA batteries.
Excellent quality spring loaded terminals to charge AAA.
Discharge before charge function.
Individual LED battery charge status.
Negative delta V charge sensing.
Trickle charge activated once batteries are fully charged.
Dimensions: 220 x 40 x 115mm.
A full charge of 2700mAh capacity batteries will take approximately 20-24 hours. You will need to turn the charger off after 12 hours, then turn it back on again to complete the charge process. This is necessary to charge the batteries to the full 2700mAh capacity.
