If you need to connect a peripheral at a distance greater than 5m from a desktop PC or laptop you will need to use an Active extension cable in order to maintain signal integrity. This USB 2.0 active extension cables repeats the high speed (USB 2.0 speed) data signal by employing power from the USB power cables. Up to five active extension cables may also be cascaded in order to safely place peripherals up to 80 feet away from the computer.
